Cairo Amman Bank Sponsors “Governance, Risk, and Compliance” Forum

Amman – Cairo Amman Bank sponsored the Union of Arab Banks Forum, “Governance, Risks, and Compliance” which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel on the nineteenth and twentieth of this month, with the participation of Jordanian banks and in cooperation with the Association of Banks in Jordan and the Central Bank of Jordan.

Cairo Amman Bank’s sponsorship of the forum comes in line with the bank’s strategy to keep up with the latest developments in the field of the financial system and the strength of banks, ensuring the stability and sustainability of their work and not defaulting or bankruptcy, and best practices in the framework of “Governance, Risk, and Compliance” through the rules, principles, and requirements of governance, disclosure, transparency, responsibility, the structure of good governance, social and environmental responsibility and its reports, banking administrative flexibility, and improving its ability to work effectively and smoothly to face emergency changes, whether economic or social, witnessed by the world as a whole, as well as various risks, including fraud and financial crimes needed for technology development.

The bank was keen to sponsor the forum for its renewed topics in the field of banking work, including experts and workers in the field of banking, as a platform for sharing experiences, discussing the latest developments in risk management, compliance, and governance, working on the performance and efficiency of Arab bankers, fortifying banks in the face of risks, and strengthening their commitment to international standards, in terms of a comprehensive review of risk-related assets and the new reforms of the Basel Committee aimed at amending the standard approach to credit and operational risks, the challenges facing risk management in light of the digital transformation of banks, risk management in the face of sovereign debt, cybersecurity risk management, and reputational risk.

It is noteworthy that Cairo Amman Bank is keen to develop its banking tools according to the highest international standards and classifications in the banking field and through “Governance, Risks, and Compliance”, and through developing tools and investing in human capabilities to reach the best practices in the field of governance and to provide advanced and convenient banking service to its customers.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr. Adel Sharkas, inaugurated the forum, pointing out the importance of the forum for the economies of developing countries, where governance, risk management, and compliance are among the main titles for the success of institutions, particularly financial institutions, stressing the need to break out of traditional patterns in managing institutions in Arab countries through proper applications for the best governance practices.
