Cairo Amman Bank and Jordan Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Fund Sign Agreement to Finance Household Solar Installation Program

December 5, 2024

Cairo Amman Bank and the Jordan Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources have signed a joint cooperation agreement to support the new phase of the household sector solar installation program. This program, slated for the year 2024/2025, aims to install solar cells and solar heater systems with a 30% support grant on all systems.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Eng. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources / Chairman of the Management Committee of the JREEEF, and Dr. Kamal Albakri, CEO of Cairo Amman Bank.

This initiative facilitates the installation of solar cells and solar heater systems for citizens, adhering to the approved standards and program guidelines. The primary benefit for citizens includes a reduction in the cost of their monthly electricity bills.

This collaboration aligns with Cairo Amman Bank’s strategy to enhance community service, contribute to the economic modernization vision, and extend the services of the JREEEF to citizens across various governorates in Jordan. The aim is to support the household sector in Jordan by promoting sustainable energy solutions.

The household sector program implemented by the JREEEF significantly achieves the goals of sustainable development, aligning with the Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision 2030. It is a crucial program that plays a vital role in Jordan’s comprehensive and smooth energy transition, yielding economic and social benefits for citizens while meeting environmental targets related to emission reduction.

In the previous phase of the program completed in 2024, the JREEEF successfully installed 3,000 solar heaters and 2,000 solar cell systems at a total cost of 6.5 million dinars, with 30% of the funding provided by the JREEEF.

The newly launched support program, which began on September 24, aims to support the installation of 4,000 solar cell systems at an estimated cost of 8.5 million dinars and 5,000 solar heaters at approximately 3 million dinars by the end of this year.
